The Perks Of Being a Wallflower Book and Movie Review

Book title: The Perks Of Being a Wallfower
Author: Stephen Chbosky
Main Character: Charlie
Published: February 1st 1999
Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary

Summary: Charlie is a freshman. And while he's not the biggest geek in the school, he is by no means popular. Shy, introspective, intelligent beyond his years yet socially awkward, he is a wallflower, caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it. Charlie is attempting to navigate his way through uncharted territory: the world of first dates and mixed tapes, family dramas and new friends; the world of sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, when all one requires is that perfect song on that perfect drive to feel infinite. But Charlie can't stay on the sideline forever. Standing on the fringes of life offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it looks like from the dance floor.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a deeply affecting coming-of-age story that will spirit you back to those wild and poignant roller-coaster days known as growing up. (from Goodreads )

Review: I really enjoyed reading this book!, at first i was a wee bit skeptical to read it since i heard that it was like letters to the reader and i thought it would be weird to read a book written that way, but after i started reading it i just got sucked in and i couldn't stop reading. I loved all the characters they were all enjoyable, i loved Charlie i thought he was the sweetest thing ever, no part of this book bored me, i enjoyed reading all of it, and i love books like that. I would really recommend this book to anyone, i feel like even people who don't enjoy reading would really like to read this book, it would be like reading letters from an old friend or a new friend or well a stranger, who you get to know more and more as you keep on reading.

Rating: 5/5

Director: Stephen Chbosky
Writer: Stephen Chbosky (Screenplay and book)

Review: I really liked this movie, i thought the acting was great and the actors look exactly like i pictured the characters, i really think that they fit the characters perfectly. I really love how the movie didn't leave out too much, although they did leave out many other parts that i was bummed about, i really think it would have been better if they kept those parts in. I saw on Youtube that people were comparing it to the Breakfast club and that it was as good or even better, and that it would be a classic just like The Breakfast Club, even though i agree that the movie was great, i don't think it's as great as the breakfast club maybe it's up there but not as good as The Breakfast Club in my opinion. If you haven't already watched this movie i highly recommend that you do, but i think that you should read the book first, even if you don't like reading at least give the book a shot.

Rating: 8.5/10

P.S: I will be reviewing more movies on this site now, i only did it once to Hunger games and i really want to review more movies, i just finished watching the silver linings playbook and i will review that one soon

If you have any great movies or books that you want to recommend to me feel free to do so in the comments, i would really love some recommendations, The Genre doesn't matter ( well maybe a little i don't want anything depressing and something i will cry like a baby watching or reading haha).
