You make me (Blurred Lines #1) by Erin McCarthy: Book Review

Book Title: You make me (Blurred Lines #1)
Author: Erin McCarthy
Published: April 17th 2014

Synopsis: The guy she wants…

Growing up on the coast of Maine with a revolving door of foster siblings, Caitlyn Michaud spent one intense and passionate year falling in love with her foster brother, Heath. Then he left without a word. The betrayal devastated Caitlyn and made her vow to forget the compelling bad boy. But forgetting his sensual touch and their deep all-consuming friendship is easier said than done.

Isn’t the guy she needs…

Determined to move on, in college Caitlyn has risen above her small town impoverished roots and has joined a sorority, reinvented her appearance, and landed the right boyfriend. Pre-law major and frat president, Ethan, is thoughtful and always laughing, and he makes her feel happy, calm. He also gives her the social acceptance she craves.

But the perfect world she tried so hard to attain is ripped apart when Heath appears one night out of nowhere. Caitlyn remembers all the reasons why she loves him, even if they don’t make sense to anyone but her. Out of the military, Heath is as brooding and intense as ever, and he is determined not only to win her back, but to exact revenge on everyone who kept him from her…

And when one love allows her to breathe, but the other feels as essential to her life as air, how does she choose between them?

What I think: I actually don't know exactly how I feel about this book, I liked the plot and the storyline but somehow I wasn't the biggest fan of the main characters I was more into the side characters like Aubrey, Ethan and Tiffany, and I agree with someone on Goodreads who said that Ethan dodged a bullet there haha, anyway I don't have much to say about this book other than I did enjoy it and the sex scenes were tastefully done (some books that have sex scenes are sometimes not well written and are cringe worthy) but it wasn't the case here like I said it was tastefully done and I enjoyed reading them (maybe a little too much haha...haha)

Stars: I give this book 4 stars out of 5, I do recommend it if you are interested in the plot line, even though I didn't 100% love the main characters that doesn't mean you wouldn't because I saw on Goodreads that a lot of people loved them.

Would I read the sequels ?: If the sequels were about Ethan, Tiffany, or Aubrey I definitely would because I am dying to know what happens to them.

If you want to check the book out you can find it here on Amazon:  http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=You%20Make%20Me%20erin

Pages: 208
Publication Date: May 18th, 2014

Cassie Haywood, would-have-been beauty queen, was scarred in an accident in which her alcoholic mom was killed. But she can still sing and play her guitar, even though she seeks way too much relief from the pain in her body and her heart through drugs, and way too much relief from loneliness through casual sex. Still, it's Cassie who hears former child prodigy Harumi Yokoyama playing in a punk band at a party, and enlists her, outraging Harumi's overbearing first-generation Japanese parents. The fourth member is Esther Shealy, who joins as a drummer in order to be close to Cassie--the long-time object of her unrequited love--and Harumi, her estranged childhood friend. Trudy got her hands on a guitar. Actually, it was her father’s guitar, the one he’d played in his band. The instrument had a history of smoky bars, fields of wild flowers, park benches, Greyhound buses. It had been all over the place, probably even Dahomey.

She was going to ask to borrow it, but when she dropped by Jack’s apartment, he wasn’t home. Trudy decided to cart the guitar off anyhow. He never played it any more and besides, he might say no if she asked him to loan it to her. He didn’t trust her so much since all the trouble with Adam.
She’d practice and innovate and turn herself into a brilliant performer. And then she’d start a band. It would be the most exciting thing to hit the town since General Sherman. Yeah, these were good thoughts.

By day, she practiced. By night, she hung out at The Cave, playing records or slamming on the dance floor. During breaks, she looked for musicians in the Pink Room.
“Hey, Maddy. I’m starting a band. Wanna join up?”

Her roommate Madeline tossed a lock of black hair out of her eyes. “You must be out of your mind.”
Trudy shrugged. She asked Jeff, the David Bowie lookalike. She even asked Johnny Fad. People laughed, blew smoke in her face. Sometimes they just turned away as if they hadn’t heard her at all.
Why did everyone treat her proposition like some sort of joke? She was as serious as she’d ever been. The more she practiced, the more she knew that her dreams lay in music. She closed her eyes and saw herself on the stage, crooning into a mike while a huge crowd lit and lofted their Bics in tribute.
When people were drinking and dancing, they weren’t in the mood for serious talk. She had to find another way to put her band together.

Trudy made a flyer with scissors and magazines and Elmer’s glue. When she was finally satisfied with her work, she rode her housemate’s rickety bicycle to Kinko’s and made a hundred copies. Then she ran around Five Points with a staple gun and plastered them to every telephone pole in sight. When she was finished, she went back to the apartment, picked up her guitar, and waited for the phone to ring.

“Hey, what’s this?” Madeline barged into her room just after midnight, smelling of booze and smoke. She waved one of Trudy’s flyers in the air between them.
“I’m starting a band,” Trudy said. “I told you already.”
Madeline shrugged. “Yeah, whatever. I wish you hadn’t put our phone number down, though. We’ll get half a million calls from creeps.”

Trudy didn’t answer. Why was Madeline being such a bitch? She looked really cool with her tattooed shoulder and asymmetrical haircut, but sometimes she could be totally square.
“I’ll get my dad to buy us an answering machine,” Trudy said. “That way we can screen calls.”
Madeline nodded, seemingly consoled, and wandered off to her room.
Trudy giggled softly. Jack would never fork out cash for something like that, but the lie had worked.
The first call came at noon the next day.
“Hey, I’m calling about the band,” a gravelly voice said.
“What do you play?”
“Bass, drums, whatever. I’m versatile. Hey, wait. You sound really familiar. What’s your name?”
“Trudy Sin.”
“Hey, I know you. You’re that firestarter.” The line went dead.

Later, Southern Bell called about an overdue phone bill. The manager at Yesterday’s, where Madeline waited tables, called asking Madeline to report to work early. Someone dialed a wrong number.
Where were all the budding musicians, the soulmates in tune with her dreams? Trudy set aside her guitar and put on some music. She threw herself on the bed and let Patti Smith comfort her.
How was she ever going to start a band?

Maybe she could go solo – set up a drum machine and play the guitar herself. She wracked her brains trying to come up with someone who’d gotten famous without back-up. Her mind went blank.
Two nights later, when she came home from a trip to the Quick Mart down the street, Madeline greeted her with, “You got a phone call. Someone wants to join your band.”
“Great. Who?” She pictured a pale, black-haired guy in leather, a guitar strapped across his hard-muscled body.
“I dunno. She said she’d call back.”
She? Well, okay. This could be good. A girl group. Yeah, that’s the ticket. They’d be like the Supremes with instruments. The Gogo’s with attitude. It would be a good gimmick, something to get them started while they developed as a band.

New book haul!

I recently got some books and I wanted to share with you the books that I got, I actually got these a few weeks ago and I already did a video haul but as always I forgot to do a blog post about it, I really need to remember to do both haha.
Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami - I was never actually interested in this book before, but when I saw it in the book store there was something that was pushing me towards it, I just couldn't help but pick it up and it does sound more interesting than I thought it did, I read a chapter and I am really liking it so far.
The Maze Runner by James Dashner - This is another book that I was never interested in before, but when I saw the trailer (btw how cute does Dylen O'brien look in it!?) I just thought it was so awesome that I just had to get it, it was actually the reason why I was in the book store, I was looking for this book.
Looking for Alaska by John Green - I have already read this book a few years ago, but I wanted to reread it and own it for myself and that is the reason why I bought it. When I got home though I realized that I should have bought Paper Towns instead because I wanted to read that book more... D'oh.
Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes - I've recently heard a lot about this series on booktube and I just decided to buy it, it sounds like an awesome book even though I don't read much fantasy, I do want to read more of it.

So that is it for my haul, thank you for reading, if you want to know more about these books just click on the names and it will direct you to the goodreads page, and you can read all about them there.

Talon Cover: What I think

They recently revealed the cover of Julie Kagawa's new book Talon and I wanted to share with you what I thought of the cover and the synopsis and if I'll be reading the series.

Book Title: Talon (Talon #1)
Author: Julie Kagawa
Expected Publication: October 28th 2014

Synopsis: Long ago, dragons were hunted to near extinction by the Order of St. George, a legendary society of dragon slayers. Hiding in human form and growing their numbers in secret, the dragons of Talon have become strong and cunning, and they're positioned to take over the world with humans none the wiser.

Ember and Dante Hill are the only sister and brother known to dragonkind. Trained to infiltrate society, Ember wants to live the teen experience and enjoy a summer of freedom before taking her destined place in Talon. But destiny is a matter of perspective, and a rogue dragon will soon challenge everything Ember has been taught. As Ember struggles to accept her future, she and her brother are hunted by the Order of St. George.

Soldier Garret Xavier Sebastian has a mission to seek and destroy all dragons, and Talon's newest recruits in particular. But he cannot kill unless he is certain he has found his prey: and nothing is certain about Ember Hill. Faced with Ember's bravery, confidence and all-too-human desires, Garret begins to question everything that the Order has ingrained in him: and what he might be willing to give up to find the truth about dragons.

What I think about the cover: Oh my lord I was in love with this cover before I even knew what this book was about(although looking at the cover you know immediately that it's about dragons lol), just look at it, it's gorgeous!, I love how simple and awesome it looks, I feel like this is just such a perfect cover.

What I think about the synopsis: I think the synopsis sounds so awesome, this might actually be the first dragon book I read ( not that I am not interested in dragon books because I am, I just never picked one up.) I am really looking forward to this book coming out so hopefully it will be as amazing and it looks and sounds!

New releases that I am looking forward to reading

Bound by Lies - Book Review

Book Title: Bound by Lies
Author: Hanna Peach
Genres: Adult, Romance, Erotica

Synopsis: Our love is on his terms. He contacts me only through notes − unpredictable and untraceable. When we meet, he can touch me, but I’m not allowed to touch him. When we make love, it’s only after I have been bound and blindfolded. It’s the only time I truly feel alive. Which is why I play along with it. For now.

Caden Thaine is the most sinfully beautiful man I have ever seen. But more than that, his touch sets me on fire. And dear God, do I ache for him. I don’t know where he lives or even what he does. But this doesn’t scare me. My only fear is that one day his messages will stop.

I know he’s hiding something. But that’s okay. I am hiding things too. Like my real name and... who I really am. But the deeper I fall for him, the stronger my curiosity becomes.

I could never have imagined just how much our lives are bound. And that pulling at his tangled web of secrets would cause my own dark past to come back to try and reclaim me. Will we survive? Will our love?

Adult romantic suspense. +18 years.

My Review:  This will be a short review because I had a hard time thinking of what to say about this book, on one hand I did enjoy it, but on the other I thought it was okay, I honestly have no idea what to say about it, it was a nice book, I didn't hate it, but I wasn't completely in love with it either.

This won't be a helpful review at all because I myself don't know how I feel about it, like i said before, so I might change this review in a few days, but right now I just think the book is okay.

Stars: 3 out of 5

Would I reread ?: I feel like I wouldn't, but I might change my mind in the future and decide to check it out again, you never know!

Would I read other books from this author: Yes I would, I don't like to judge an author on just one book.

I’ve never pretended to be good or deserving. I chase who I want, do what I want, act how I want.

I didn’t have time to lust after a woman I had no right to lust after. I told myself to shut up and stay hidden. But then she tried to run. I’d tasted what she could offer me and damned if I would let her go.

One secret destroys them

“As long as you’ll inflicting pain, I can keep it together.” The admission made Zel look up. I lowered my voice, throwing an annoyed glance at the medic. “I want you to know. Everything about me. Maybe then you can understand. I want you, Zel. The thought of you leaving fucking kills me.” .--HAZEL

For weeks I’d wanted to see Fox naked. I’d wanted to understand what he kept hidden. But now he stood before me and I wanted to shut my eyes.
He didn’t need to verbalize his story. It lived in his skin, engraved into muscles, and imprinted into flesh. .--HAZEL

I didn’t know if I wanted to laugh or cry. In one move, Fox gave everything that he was. He bared his soul; he dropped every barrier, so we could understand him better.
I hated myself in that moment for keeping so much from him. For judging him. For not understanding or granting more compassion.--HAZEL

Tears of Tess Teaser: It had taken being kidnapped, and sold to a man who didn’t want me, to show how much my existence lacked. Q shattered my walls with his uncouth ways. How could I ever go back to a life where my senses lived in limbo? Where no one cared enough to kill for me?
Q stopped washing my hair, gathering me tighter to him. I crushed against his wet, suited chest, inhaling his unique scent.
He let me cry and didn’t reprimand or control. He offered comfort in silence. Lips pressed my forehead, whispering, “Je suis là,” over and over. I’m here. I’m here.
In his kindness, he broke me into the perfect slave. I didn’t need his anger to become devoted. I needed his softer moments—gentle love was my undoing, not demands or threats. I was pitiful with how I needed compassion, companionship.
Tears turned from depression to release. After twenty years of struggle, I finally belonged.

My opinions about Tears of Tess: I have read Tears of Tess(It's why I wanted to join this book blitz), and I really enjoyed it, it was a very dark read and I had never read a book like that before so I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it, but If you are the person who can't handle dark books then it's not a book for you and if you have no problem with reading books that have dark themes then I think that you would enjoy this book.

Book Review: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Book Title: Fangirl
Author: Rainbow Rowell
Published: September 10th 2013
Characters: Cath(Cather), Wren, Levi, and Reagen.
Hardcover pages: 438
Setting: Lincoln, Nebraska (US)

Synopsis: A coming-of-age tale of fanfiction, family, and first love.

Cath is a Simon Snow fan.

Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan.... But for Cath, being a fan is her life—and she's really good at it. She and her twin, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it's what got them through their mother leaving.

Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fanfiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere.

Cath's sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can't let go. She doesn't want to.

Now that they're going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn't want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She's got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend; a fiction-writing professor who thinks fanfiction is the end of the civilized world; a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words...and she can't stop worrying about her dad, who's loving and fragile and has never really been alone.

For Cath, the question is: Can she do this? Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?

My Review: When I first started reading this book I was kind of annoyed at Cath, I felt like she was too closed off and she didn't even try to make friends or go out at all, and that annoyed me honestly, I am the kind of girl who is always in her room reading fanfiction and once I tried writing it, but I was never like Cath, I wished to go to parties and to have fun and all that, and if I was in Cath's position I would have been desperately trying to make friends and do stuff because I feel like you should always let loose in college, have fun and do anything you want (and ofc study, you can't forget that!)

But after a while she warmed up to me and I actually started to enjoy the storyline more, which is great because I loved this book so much, it definitely made it's way to my top favorite stand alone books when I finished reading this book I actually started to look for more books like this and sadly I didn't find any haha, but hopefully I will find some later on because I love to read books set in college.

There was one thing that kind of bugged me though ( but not really haha, yes I am weird.) and that was the Simon Snow fanfictions they put into the book, I honestly skipped all of it, I was so much more interested in Cath's storyline than her fanfiction, but I was interested in Simon Snow too, just not in reading the fanfiction, if Rainbow Rowell came out with a Simon Snow book I would definitely buy it and read it, it seems like it would be awesome haha.

Stars: I gave this book a 5 stars out of 5, I definitely recommend it to everyone, it's a really fun and heartwarming book.

Would i Re-read ?: Yes I can definitely see myself rereading this book a lot in the future!, I already want to read it again haha.

Waiting on Wednesday: Take me on by Katie Mcgarry

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the spine. It features upcoming books that eagerly waiting for!

This week I have two books I wanted to share with you, and I know I should post one now and the other next week, but since the books are written by the same author  i decided to put both in here.

Book title: Take me on
Author: Katie Mcgarry
Expected publication: May 27th 2014
Hardcover version has: 544 pages

Synopsis:  Acclaimed author Katie McGarry returns with the knockout new story of two high school seniors who are about to learn what winning really means

Champion kickboxer Haley swore she'd never set foot in the ring again after one tragic night. But then the guy she can't stop thinking about accepts a mixed martial arts fight in her honor. Suddenly, Haley has to train West Young. All attitude, West is everything Haley promised herself she'd stay away from. Yet he won't last five seconds in the ring without her help.

West is keeping a big secret from Haley. About who he really is. But helping her-fighting for her-is a shot at redemption. Especially since it's his fault his family is falling apart. He can't change the past, but maybe he can change Haley's future.

Hayley and West have agreed to keep their relationship strictly in the ring. But as an unexpected bond forms between them and attraction mocks their best intentions, they'll face their darkest fears and discover love is worth fighting for.

And the other book is Breaking the rules, there is no cover for it yet so I can't put a picture but that book is about Noah and Echo (the main characters from book 1 which is Pushing the limits.) Breaking the rules will be released on December 30th 2014 and there will be a teaser of Breaking the rules in Take me on. This book is set between Pushing the Limits and Dare you to. (If you want to know more this is the authors blog post about this book and she explains everything much better.

I read Pushing the limits last year, Dare you to and Crash into you I read this year (I read both books in one day, they were that good, I still haven't posted my review on them because I am trying to write it well, because every time I think about these books I fangirl like crazy and the whole review would be all like OMG I LOVE THESE BOOKS AHHHHH!!!!, and that would be weird...even though that is exactly how I feel about these books.

I am so excited to read about West and Haley, I am bursting with excitement, I wish I could build a time machine, go into the future and read the book! but it is kind of exciting ( and frustrating) to wait haha, atleast it's coming out this year and not next year!.

and Ofcourse I am totally super duper excited for more Echo and Noah!!, December 30th needs to come, like right now!

If you have not heard about these books or if you have heard about them but haven't gotten to them yet, I highly very highly recommend them!. They are on the top of my favorites list and will stay there for a while!. Katie Mcgarry is on my auto buy authors list, from now on I will get anything she writes even if it's about time travel (and you don't know how much I hate books and movies where they travel back in time lol, except for the Back to the future movies XD I love them very very much!)

Giveaway+Book Blitz - Before You Break by Christina Lee

Book Title: Before You Break (Between Breaths #2)
Author: Christina Lee
Published by: Intermix (Penguin)
Publication date: February 18th 2014
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Synopsis: A sexy, emotional New Adult romance about a bad boy on the edge and a good girl about to lose control…

The star catcher of the college baseball team isn’t supposed to have skeletons in his closet. But Daniel Quinn is hiding a guilty past so dark he refuses to let anyone get close. Except there’s something about gorgeous, studious Ella Abrams that goes beyond the electric attraction between them—something that makes him want to open up.

Ella has suffered enough heartache and guilt to fill one of her psychology textbooks, but she keeps that part of herself hidden behind a bubbly exterior. Until she receives an anonymous call while working the suicide helpline and the voice on the other end touches something inside of her that she can’t ignore.

Soon Ella and Quinn’s physical connection heats up, even as their deep and revealing hotline talks intensify. But by the time Ella realizes that her seductive jock and her sensitive caller are the same guy, it might be too late to save him—or to stop herself from falling too far.

*A companion novel to ALL OF YOU

Excerpt: At the theater, we bought popcorn, Milk Duds, and large sodas. After we settled in our seats in the crowded room, I opened the box of chocolate caramel confections and dumped them in the large tub.

“Um,” Quinn said, scratching his chin.

“Sweet and salty—it’s a must-have for movie watching.”

“Yes, seriously.” I picked up a Milk Dud, flanked it with two pieces of popcorn, and then brought it to his lips. “Here. I guarantee you’ll fall in love. You’ll never watch a movie without them again.”

“If you say so. . . .” He dragged the sweet and salty mixture into his mouth but kept my fingers enclosed between his lips. I held in a gasp while he ran his tongue over my thumb and then sucked on my forefinger before releasing my hand and chewing what remained.

“Agree,” he said around a mouthful of popcorn. “Wouldn’t want to be without them ever again.”

Quinn’s gaze latched on to mine. It felt like a bundle of feathers had been let loose in my stomach. “Guess you’ll have to come to every movie from now on. So I don’t forget.”

Speechless wasn’t even the word for what I felt in that moment. Dumbfounded might have been more like it, or maybe just struck stupid, because I couldn’t even move my lips to form any coherent words.

When the movie previews began, he turned toward the screen and reached for my fingers, interlacing our hands. Then he leaned close to my ear and said, “I expect you to feed me just like that the entire movie.”
